Heskett Power Plant Explosive Demolition
Bierlein demolished the 176-megawatt Heskett Power Station in Mandan, North Dakota. The plant began operations in 1954. After the closure of the coal plant, Heskett Station continues to send power into the grid via an existing natural gas-fired unit, which was installed in 2014, and another one that is under construction.
The unit 1 stack, Haskett Unit 2 boiler and the coal bunkers were brought down with a controlled explosive demolition. Crews continued the demolition and cleanup process following this explosive demolition.
